Electronic Health Records (EHRs): Walter Sujansky has developed and worked with EHR software for over 30 years. He is familiar with systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, and AthenaHealth. His skills include the use of spreadsheet, database, and data science tools to analyze EHR audit logs. His medical training allows him to interpret complex data in EHRs. Dr. Sujansky is knowledgeable about the design, implementation, and operation of both legacy, client-server EHRs and modern, web-based EHRs, as well as related systems (laboratory information systems, disease registries, reporting software, health information exchange tools, etc.).
AI and Clinial Decision Support Systems: Dr. Sujansky has worked for over 30 years with artificial intelligence technologies used to support clinical decision making. These technologies include both “white-box” legacy systems, such as rule-based alerts and drug-drug interaction checkers, as well as “black-box” emerging systems, such as predictive A.I. tools based on neural networks and generative A.I. tools (such as ChatGPT) based on large language models. He is actively researching and speaking to attorneys about the medico-legal implications of these technologies and how their detailed technical features pertain to the prosecution or defense of liability cases.
